Training objectives
Programmes are customised to individual requirements. Our trainers do a detailed needs analysis on Monday morning and develop a timetable of activities which meets the participant's specific needs. Our English and international communication courses usually include four main areas:

1. Language
Most participants want to develop their confidence and fluency in English. These courses create lots of opportunities for speaking and listening. There is also a focus on increasing vocabulary and developing more accurate English through a better command of grammar and pronunciation.

2. Communication
Participants can select from a menu of professional communication areas which include presenting, leading and taking part in meetings, negotiating, making telephone and conference calls, socialising, and writing emails and reports.

3. Intercultural
Many professionals need to develop a greater understanding of the role played by culture in the international business world. These courses help people to develop both cultural knowledge and intercultural skills.

4. Interpersonal
The interpersonal communication skills in English which we work on include building rapport, active listening, facilitating, conflict management and influencing - all important in professional communication situations.

This course is timetabled from 09.00 to 17.00 over five days (Monday to Friday):

Accommodation
For most courses in York we encourage participants to stay in host family accommodation because of the opportunities it gives for socialising outside the classroom. All our host families have been carefully selected both for the quality of the accommodation and for the warmth of their welcome. If preferred, we are happy to advise on and to arrange a suitable hotel.

Host family accommodation per night (including breakfast and evening meal) £46.

Evening activities
At least two events will be arranged including, for example, an evening dinner, a sports activity, theatre, live music, countryside tour etc. The evening activities are optional and you are free to have dinner with your host family each evening if you wish.
