This 30-hour course is for professionals working in an international project environment who want to develop language and professional communication skills in a group context. Maximum group size is four participants. Entry level is pre-intermediate (CEF B1). Any client in doubt about level should arrange a pre-course telephone interview to help with assessment.
Training objectives
The following four areas form the basis of our specialist English and international communication courses at York Associates.

1. Language
Most participants want to develop their confidence and fluency in English. Your training course will create lots of opportunities for speaking and listening. There will also be a focus on increasing project-related vocabularyand developing more accurate English with a better command of relevant grammar and pronunciation.

2. Communication
This course focuses on key project situations including making an effective introduction at a kick-off meeting, presenting project updates, leading face-to-face project meetings and virtual conference calls, handling project-related negotiations, writing clear and effective emails and reports, and networking during projects.

3. Intercultural
Many professionals want to develop a greater understanding of the role which culture has in the international project world. Our training helps to develop both the cultural knowledge and the intercultural skills important for effective project working.

4. Interpersonal
Participants can develop interpersonal skills in English which are essential in international project situations including influencing, managing conflict and giving feedback.

The course is timetabled from 09.00 to 17.00 over five days (Monday to Friday) as follows:

Evening activities
At least two optional events are arranged each week - for example, an evening dinner, a sports activity, theatre, live music, a countryside tour, etc.
