Participants
This course is for professionals working in an international business environment who want a training course which focuses on specific learning objectives on a one-to-one basis for half the programme and develops professional communication skills in an international group context for the other half of the course. Entry level is pre-intermediate (CEF B1). Maximum group size: six participants. Any client in doubt should arrange a pre-course telephone interview to help assess present level.
Objectives
Programmes are customised to both individual and specific group requirements. Your morning trainer will agree a timetable of activities with you on Monday morning which meets your individual objectives in sessions 1 and 2. Your afternoon trainer will define group objectives for the five afternoon sessions and consult with the morning trainer daily to manage your overall learning programme.
The following three areas form the basis of our professional language and communication courses at York Associates.
1. Language skills
Most participants want to develop their confidence and fluency in English. Your training course will create lots of opportunities for speaking and listening. There will also be a focus on increasing vocabulary and developing more accurate English with a better command of grammar and pronunciation.
2. Professional communication skills
You can select from a menu of professional communication areas depending on the relative importance in your current or future job. This menu includes
- presentations
- meetings
- negotiations
- telephone calls
- writing emails and reports
- socialising
The training course will include both language input and lots of opportunities for practice.
3. Intercultural skills
Many professionals want to develop a greater understanding of the role which culture has in the international business world. Our internationally experienced trainers can support you to develop both cultural knowledge and the intercultural skills important for your role.
Generally, the morning sessions in a Combination course allow time to focus on developing language skills and fluency. The afternoon group sessions normally focus on professional communication skills with simulations of meetings, presentations, negotiations and international social discussion.
